Janis, hard to believe you have only been on Twitter for 6 months. Amazing to see how you've taken to it and how much you have accomplished in such a short time. Interesting that your initial impression was the same as mine and that of most people “this isn’t for me, it’s just another time waster”. I'm still wondering why some stick with it and find the value and others don't.

Social media (Twitter et al) has also been transformational for both my business and personal network. I have met so many interesting and admirable people that I would otherwise never have met, and have also gotten a few clients through tweetups and other social media events.

I look forward to continued collaborations with you and the rest of the social media community in Victoria.

Cheers, Chris

PS - my company name is BWEST Interactive and the URL is bwest.ca not bwestinteractive.ca although I should probably register that :-)

I see the arts as a way to bridge cultures and help us forge common bonds. Art and music is an international language.

However, I think the cuts to CBC and the CFAX survey are a sign of the times.

Unfortunately, classical music is not all that accessible to people. When people are exposed to it, they begin to understand it and in my experience, start seeking it out. It becomes their preferred choice of music. But without that initial exposure, either through music in the schools, or on radio stations such as CBC, audiences and arts supporters will continue to wane.

Thanks for writing on this topic - it's important.
